We had the good fortune of purchasing an embryo from Lucinda David out of her great mare, Hottness (PE $675,000), a few months before Sarah Dawson was Reserve Champion at the Snaffle Bit Futurity on her half-brother, Vince Von. We were intrigued by the cross after having seen a handful of Hottness’ offspring and knowing that the number of WR This Cats Smart foals would be going drastically down with his recent passing. His offspring have been very competitive in the show pen and his daughters are proving to be excellent producers; we can’t wait to see what “Halsey” does! “Hooker” is the last foal we had out of Highbrow Masterpiece before she passed away and the only filly. Although Highbrow Masterpiece wasn’t shown herself, James Clement and I learned a lot about her foals in the few years we co-owned her and have had great success with the limited foal crop we produced out of her. That includes the first foal I bred, Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Finalist – All Hail Da Vinci. She passes on a very trainable nature and a lot of cow sense but some of her foals needed a little more spark to make it as Open horses, so who better to add that than Travelin Jonez? I thought he would also add a little more scope, size, and an elegant neck, and we got exactly what we hoped for – a bay filly!

This filly needs no introduction. She is the first full sister to NRHA Open Futurity Champion, Ten Thirty, and she looks the part! “Hermes” is full of class and a beautiful mover. I can’t wait to see her under saddle, and talk about mare power down the road!

This colt has been a fan favorite since he was born with his easy-going and friendly personality. He has the classic Shining Spark neck and eye and is a powerhouse just like his dam. “Hertz” has a beautiful conformation and is quick to learn, and with no Gunner in his pedigree, he would make a great stallion prospect!

Sarah Dawson helped me buy this foal in utero from the Cooks out of their incredible mare, Scooters Daisy Dukes, who has proven herself to be one of the hottest up-and-coming mares in the cowhorse and cutting, having produced over $650,000 when her oldest foals are only 8 years old. This filly is a half-sister to the highest earning reined cowhorse in history, Scooter Kat, and a full-sister to NRCHA Open Hackamore World Champion, NRCHA Open Stallion Stakes World Champion, and NRCHA Two Rein World Champion, Hazardouz Material, as well as NRCHA Open Stallion Stakes Reserve Champion, Metallic Daisy Dukes.

I bought this embryo out of Marty and Kevin Corcoran’s young star, Starfire Sixtysix, a daughter of the great Wind Her Up Chic. “Fire” already has over $65,000 in LTE, including carrying Casey Deary to 5th at the NRHA Futurity (the year he showed with a broken neck!). I picked ARC Gunnabeabigstar because I think they compliment each other’s maneuvers and minds, and because it also combines three of the great female families with Wimpys Little Chic, Wind Her Up Chic, and Snip O Gun. Looks, movement, and a heck of a pedigree are going to make this filly a big time show prospect and powerhouse of a broodmare down the road.

“Heathcliff” is from the Highbrow Masterpiece’s last foal crop, but we think he might be one of her best. Woody Be Tuff has crossed exceptionally well on High Brow Cat mares and continues to be one of the top producing sires for the NRCHA. He proved to do what we hoped he would, adding some size to the smaller-framed Highbrow Masterpiece but maintaining a balanced, athletic conformation. It’s easy to tell that he’s going to have a great eye appeal in the pen just by watching him move, and he has the brains to match his athleticism.

“Homer” is one of Highbrow Masterpiece’s last foal crop and the only full sibling to Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Finalist, All Hail Da Vinci, and looks every bit as good as his brother. He inherited One Time Royalty’s long, elegant neck and presence – you just want to watch him when you’re around him, and he floats across the ground. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him follow in his brother’s footsteps as a Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Finalist. He has all the parts to get to the winner’s circle.
